Dried Sprats

Sprats are small oily fish that are part of the herring family. They have long been known for their nutritional value – and this holds just as much for dogs as for people. Sprats contain lots of polyunsaturated fats, which are known to be key parts of a good dog diet, and Sprats contain far more of these than larger fish species, such as salmon or bream, that are often used in dog foods.

The Benefits of Dried Sprats for Dogs

These Sprats are gently air-dried to retain their natural goodness and intrinsic benefits. They’re great for sprinkling on your dog’s dinners or using as a tasty and natural training treat!

It's been shown that dogs that regularly eat fish are less likely to develop arthritis, and in dogs that do have arthritis, the oils and nutrients in fish can ease the symptoms.

Fish is proven to be good for a dog’s heart and circulatory systems. These Sprats are high in Omega-3 and low in saturated fat, making for a healthy heart and lower blood cholesterol. These oils and fats are also important for improving and maintaining skin condition. The Omega-3 oils are eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid – which are present in Sprats at over seven times the amount found in common fish.

These fish are a great source of retinol, which promotes night vision, while the fish oils help keep eyes in general healthy and bright.

Eating seafood as part of a balanced diet provides your dog with nutrients like iodine (key to a well-functioning thyroid gland), potassium and zinc, and many key vitamins. Sprats are packed with selenium, which evidence shows can protect against cancer.

Oily fish is traditionally said to be good for peoples’ brains, and the same goes for your dog – eating fish can help boost your dog’s brain function and help neural development. This is especially the case for puppies, so our Sprats make ideal training treats for pups.

Feeding Guide

Treats should be used sparingly between mealtimes. If you plan to use treats regularly, make sure to adjust how much you feed at mealtimes to avoid over-feeding your four-legged friend.
